Kerala Matta Rice/ Palakkad Matta/ Rose Matta/Vadi Matta Red Matta rice is

region of Palakkad, this rice has a unique flavour, texture, and abundance of
health benefits. Matta Rice is rich in fibre, has a lower glycemic index, and
consists of essential minerals such as Calcium, Magnesium, and also VItamin A
& VItamin B. Regular consumption of this rice has proven to help reduce
the risk of heart diseases, diabetes, etc. Apart from being healthy, Matta
Rice has a unique flavour that compliments the Kerala-style sambar and
curries. It is also used to make Porridge which is a regular breakfast for
the people in this region. Unpolished Matta rice is very rough &
difficult to cook. However, polishing it enhances the flavour, aids
digestion, and makes it easier to cook.
