About the Brand :

Typhoo Tea Limited is an over 100-year-old iconic British brand with a rich heritage stretching back to 1903 when Birmingham grocer John Sumner developed and sold a blend of tea in his shop. Over the years, Typhoo has developed from being the first brand to sell ready packaged tea, to being a leading tea business that now offers products in every sector of the tea market. Brands such as London Fruit & Herb – recognised across the world, Heath and Heather – offering a natural fruit and herb product to an audience growing in health awareness and Melrose’s and Glengettie, regional favorites in Scotland and Wales.

On 31 October 2005 Apeejay Surrendra Group, one of India’s largest tea producers with 17 plantations across 50,000 acres in Assam, acquired Typhoo and its associated brands.

If you are an educated tea drinker, you'll probably dislike this tea. It's grassy, and overcooked tasting. It has very little actual green tea flavor. Yamamoto Yama is a bit more expensive, but hugely superior.

It isn't as harsh as some of the green teas that my local grocery store sells. I've always been a fan of Typhoo teas.

First of all, I appreciate the producers for giving us such a product with lots of efforts along with the purity. Typhoo green tea happens to be one of the finest & purest form of tea leaves that someone (health concerned) can ever expect. Earlier I used to buy the 200gm pack from Spencers until all on a sudden they shifted to tea bags (which I least prefer) totally excluding the loose leaves. Amazon gets me a good deal indeed. However, I must mention - I can observe the seller slowly & steadily increasing the price from 239 to 244 rs. (as on 19/6) which doesn't look propitious for customers like us who intend to buy the tea pack periodically. Kindly keep a check on to this. Thanks to the seller & Amazon

This is a very good deal price-wise. I have been loving typhoo teas and this pack doesn't disappoint either. The packaging could have been better. Its a very thin, fragile paper packaging. I received it bent out of shape which was very sad. In terms of flavour, its as good as pure green tea can get. However if i have to choose between this one and typhoo's flavoured teas, i wouldn't choose this. Typhoo's flavoured tea variants like Moroccan mint, night time infusion are so much better. But talking about unflavoured green tea, this typhoo tea is way better than other common brands like only leaf, organic india, lipton, etc.

World is filled with choices. But, if you're looking for a nice brew at an affordable price, yet from reputable brand. Then, your search should probably end here. Cuz, Typhoo Pure Green Tea is one of the finest green tea around the country. Please have a look at the Pros. & Cons. before going ahead with it. Pros. • Strong Flavour (If you're looking for the strong bittery flavour rather than the light, sweet one, then that will be the best possible option. And, yes, you can adjust the strongness by reducing & increasing the amount of tea) • Grassy, Light & Refreshing Smell (I have tried every single range of green tea, whether it's 50Rs/100g or 5000Rs/100g. But at this price point, Typhoo Pure Green Tea produces a very refreshing smell while sipping) • Very Affordable Price • Perfect for Daily Use Cons. Believe me, it's not the best choice. If you're a health-conscious guy. Here's why: • No Organic Certifications (During the entire journey from tea garden to packaging, several pesticides were added to keep stuffs fresh & to lower the maintenance costs. Guess what? You're gonna consume all that pesticides in your tea cup) • Not a First Harvest Tea (One of the factors that measures the quality of any tea is whether it's a first, second or last harvest; but the bad news is that this product has no such division) • No measurements on Antioxidants • Not a Premium Packaging (It had a very basic packaging) Whatever the Cons. are. At this price point, Typhoo Pure Green Tea deserves a 4 out of 5. And, yes, if you're a Green Tea Geek like me, I wouldn't genuinely recommend you this product. But, for a normal person, this green tea is going to be your next-best choice. Hope you find this helpful. Thanks!

I'm simply amazed by the quantity of tea leaves and flavour it gives. Since, I'm on a diet regimen, I've been asked by my doctor to have green tea instead of regular tea for quicker and faster results. My first question was whether to have something that would be easier and quicker or something that would be well not exactly easier but more cost effective. I tried tea bags. Quick & easy. You just boil water, transfer it to a cup, insert a tea bag and wait couple of minutes. Lo and behold your tea is ready. Easy but not cost efficient. Limited bags in a box. Then I thought instead of using tea bags why not brew my own tea. For that I needed a brewer. I though, why not use a thermos, which I guess most people readily have in their household and rarely used. Keeping this in mind, I scoured through the internet searching blogs after blogs for good green tea. After searching for days (exaggeration) for about an hour, I found this product Typhoo Green Tea leaf and after using it, as the first line suggests, I'm simply amazed by the quantity of tea leaves and flavour it gives. The process is simple, take a teaspoon of tea leaves, put them in a thermos, put boiling water, close the lid and let it brew for 2-5 mins, depending on the flavour profile you like. Later, strain the tea into a cup, your tea is ready. I kid you not, in one pack of this green tea, I have brewed more than 250 cups of green tea. Just think of it, for the price of the product you can brew a cup of tea in less that 1 rupees. Compare it with tea bags you'll come to know the difference. Brewing your own tea also enables you to add more flavours to it like mint leaves, lemon, ginger etc. I am addicted to it, not exactly, but have realised that Typhoo Green Tea as one of the best green tea available at this rate in the market.

Feels like what companies do is send the best-quality green tea for infusion bags and then collect whatever regular tree leaves they can find to stuff into these "economy" packings. The taste is bitter and even though the leaves appear long and whole, after brewing there's plenty of visible dust in the cup. Not recommended for those with even a slightly discerning taste.
