Vibhuti, meaning Iswaryam, the eternal wealth. Anointing Vibhuthi is a tradition that goes back to yugas (millions of years). The applying of Vibhuti on the body is mentioned in various sastras and scripts. One gets qualified to perform Sri Siva Aradhana on applying the Bhasma (Vibhuti) in the respective places specified by Agamas. This a special Vibhuti made from Cow Dung, dried under the Sun, used in specific homas and the ash so collected is mixed with Javadhu, Punugu and other aromatic substances. The collected bhasma is applied on Linga as abhisheka, reciting Rudram Chamakam and other suktas.
